How To Disable Reels On Facebook In Android

If you’re not a fan of reels, there are good news and bad news for you. The good news is you’re not alone in thinking that Facebook now has the makings of an old-fashioned social network. Unlike WhatsApp, Instagram or even Messenger, which are all filled with dynamic new features (and ads) every day, almost everyone who uses Facebook thinks its News Feed is way too cluttered by reels.

The bad news is you can’t disable them permanently. You can only hide them from your feed: they will keep coming back and popping up in other ways if you let them lurk on your profile page.
If you want to ditch the reel and stop it from reappearing on your profile page again, here’s how to do it.

Disable Reels On Facebook App

Well, you cannot disable the Facebook reel on the app as Facebook has not yet officially included the method to remove them. You cannot remove the Facebook reels on your app either. However, if you want to remove them somehow, then you can attempt using the older version of Facebook. Well, it is certainly not recommended to do so as it may cause issues with your account. However, if you really want to remove the Facebook reels from your app, then you can attempt installing the older version of Facebook,,,

1. Use Old Facebook App

Step 1- Uninstall the Current Facebook App

1. Open Google Play Store on your phone.
2. Search for Facebook. Click on it.
3. Tap Uninstall and confirm again to remove it.

Step 2- Install Old Facebook App

1. Visit this link in your browser.
2. Download the old Facebook version 300.0.0.51.129.
3. or, you can download version 258.0.0.34.119

2. Use Facebook in Browser

For now, the only way to watch Instagram Reels is through the Facebook Android and iOS apps. However, you can still access Facebook without having to worry about the reel by using the Facebook mobile browser.

1. Open a browser on your phone.
2. Go to Facebook and login.
3. Browse Facebook without Reels.
4. Click on three-dot menu in the top right corner.
5. Tap on Add to Home Screen.

3. Use 3rd-Party Facebook Apps

While I don’t think that it is the best idea to use a third-party app, I understand that some people want to use them because they offer extra customizations and features. If you fall into this category, then I suggest two popular third-party Facebook client apps: SlimSocial and Frost. Frost is available on Github.

Honestly, there is no one-size-fits-all solution to block reels on Facebook. Yes, you can use Facebook on a mobile browser to avoid the reel, but as you know Facebook will soon make a decision on whether to bring the reel to the browser.

 4. Hide Reels From The News Feed On The Facebook App

The Facebook app provides you with the option to see fewer posts like Reels if you’re not interested in them. This is a standard Facebook option that you can use for any type of post, including Reels. To hide Reels from your News Feed, follow the steps below:

News Feed Reels are a great way to stay up-to-date on what your friends are doing, but sometimes you might want to take a break from them. If you’re looking to hide a Reel or two from your News Feed, here’s how:

Open the Facebook app and browse through your News Feed. Find the Reel or Reels section that you want to hide. Tap on the three dots in the top right corner of the Reel. This usually opens a list of options called the three dots menu. On Reels, you’ll see only one option: “Hide.

If you’re someone who doesn’t particularly enjoy or want to see Reels in your News Feed, you can easily adjust your settings to see less of them. Keep in mind that this won’t get rid of Reels or short videos altogether, but you will see less of them. To do this, simply select the option to turn off Reels whenever you come across one in your News Feed.

How To Disable Auto-Playing Reels On Android

If you are annoyed with auto-playing reels and short videos on the Facebook app. Then this method will help you as it turns off the auto-playing of reels.

1. Open your Facebook account
2. Click on the three horizontal lines at the top right corner
3. tap on theSettings & Privacy > Settings>Profile setting option
4. Now find the Media and Contacts from the list
5. Under the ‘Autoplay’ section, Select the ‘Never Autoplay Videos’ option

Facebook really wants you to use reels in your posts because they’re a good way to drive engagement.

However, reels are really just a way to promote videos, which is hardly the same thing and is a much less powerful way of communicating compared to text, images and links.

Some users might be perfectly happy with the social network, but if you’re one of those who dread reels, it’s time to get off Facebook and find a new social network that doesn’t bombard you with ads.

Facebook reels are a real turnoff and a waste of space on your Facebook profile page. They’re not only annoying, but they also do very little for your Facebook presence.

You can find a social network that doesn’t annoy you with ads, reels or any other unnecessary nonsense, so that you can focus on having a good time online without distraction.
